Science in Motion (SIM) offers several opportunities for internships and independent studies that are available for students of Juniata College. Internships are typically offered during the summer. Duties include inventory, lab organization, assisting with workshops, and writing and improving lab activities. Preference is given to students employed by SIM.  View available employment opportunities on this website.

There are three types of independent studies currently available at SIM that may be taken for credit from the education department.

  1. Semester-long independent study involving travel to a school with an outreach coordinator (traveling teacher) on one day of each week. The student must have one day of each week with no scheduled classes.  Duties include teaching lab activities and assisting students with their lab work.
  2. Week-long independent study involving travel to a school with an outreach coordinator for four days of the week. This independent study is offered during winter or spring break. Duties include teaching lab activities and assisting students with their lab work.
  3. Semester-long independent study involving writing or improving lab activities.
